Williamson Building

Project Value to Cheshire Scaffolds Ltd: £350k+

Main Contractor: Wates Construction

Main Contract Value: £15m

Cheshire Scaffolds have a long standing relationship with the Wates Group of companies and when major projects like the Williamson Building at Manchester University come along, experience and expertise count for everything.

Wates Construction and Cheshire Scaffolds pooled their resources to develop a scheme using UBIX temporary roof systems, Apollo beams and conventional tube/fittings to provide the best programme for the works. Cheshire Scaffolds was able to work within the strict time constraints that Manchester University placed on Wates Construction, to fit in with all the existing teaching and social programmes, providing a solution that was acceptable to both client and contractor.

The scaffolding provided access for various trades such as window fitters, sandblasters (to clean the entire feature copper work) and the roofers for a full renewal of the roof.

The scaffold had a full UBIX temporary roof fitted which had to cope with wind speeds of up to 90mph at times.
